Meet Deano Bonano

Deano Bonano Jefferson Parish District 2

Ready to Lead Jefferson Parish District 2

DEANO BONANO has been at the intersection of policy-making and public service for more than three decades.

Deano Bonano began working in government in July of 1988 as Jefferson Parish’s first contract administrator. He quickly garnered attention and praise for holding companies doing work with the parish accountable for their work, product and actions.

Over the years, Deano oversaw Jefferson Parish’s waste management, mosquito control, transit service, carnival operations, and more. He was Citizen’s Affairs Director in 1990, and six years later Deano was named Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the parish which is a position he mastered over 10 years. During the storm of the century, Deano emerged as a leader in emergency management as the Emergency Operations Chief at the parish’s command center. Throughout the storm, he deployed rescue crews to care for our elderly, shifted life-saving equipment to where it was needed most, and guided vital communications between parish leaders and first responders. His impressive work led to being named the parish’s first-ever Chief of Homeland Security in 2006. For the past decade, Deano served as a Council-at-Large top assistant and made constituent services a top priority. All in all, he’s amassed a distinguished record of public service.

COMMON SENSE GOALS

Now he’s prepared to put his mastery of legislating, managing and planning into practice as Councilman for a district that straddles the Mississippi River. Ask Deano what unique ideas he would bring to the council, and he rattles off a litany of common-sense goals and objectives that merit consideration and support. Among his top platform planks is an economic reform package that ensures spending is efficient and employs resourceful financial planning … opinions and concepts shaped from his years of serving a variety of governmental roles.

At 55, born and raised in Jefferson Parish, Deano Bonano has the experience it takes to move from backstage to center stage. After three decades of training, he’s better prepared to address the challenges of District 2 and Jefferson Parish than all his rivals combined.
